Brainstorming Post
Jun. 18th, 2017 10:28 pmThis is the post to comment on if you want to brainstorm ideas for the role playing game that I am going to mod. (Hopefully co-mod, if someone wants to help out.)
What we have so far is:
• American magical school in the Harry Potter universe (obviously)
• West Coast school (probably in the wilds of Oregon or Washington State)
• Five school houses based on the elements of earth, fire, wind, water and aether. Each will have an animal to match, (Destiny suggested Condor, Beaver, Otter, Gila for the non-magical elements).
Suggestions I'm throwing out there:
• What if it's a relatively new (established in the last fifty years or so) school, that is a departure from some of the trends of the more traditional system?
• JKR made it canon that in one of the Asian wizarding schools, there are day students as well as boarders. We might be able to do something with that.
• Would the students be expected to wear school uniforms when many of their No-Maj counterparts don't? Maybe they don't have robes, but wear a uniform, to keep up a kind of 'private school' facade.
• Would we have a student body president rather than a head boy or girl? What about a prefect equivalent?
• Are house elves a purely wealthy British tradition? What would be our equivalent (if we needed one?)
• What if we didn't have a castle, and instead there were multiple buildings and a campus?
• If we're following the American school structure (elementary-middle-high) will our school teach all years from middle and high?
These are just some of the thoughts I've had, I'm sure you've had a lot more, so let's start working this out in the comments! <3
